Football is the world's most popular sport, in which two teams of 11 players each try to score goals, using mainly the feet. Football has its origins in ancient China, but the modern version emerged on the streets of medieval England. Residents of neighbouring English towns would often compete collectively to drag a pig's bladder, by any means, to designated spots around the town. The Laws of the Game were codified by the Football Association in 1863.
