The Texas authorities said that someone had snuck into one of the houses and killed 5 people. Arriving police also found one survivor. According to NBC News, it was the mother of one of the victims. The officers found several victims with obvious signs of gunshot wounds. The incident happened in the unincorporated community of Blanchard, not far from Houston. Byron Lyons (chief deputy of sheriff’s office) said that police received a call from home at 10 a.m. local time. The cops found out that the elderly couple of the owners of the house, their children and the 15-month-old were brutally murdered.

"Fortunately, we found a woman, who escaped violence, because she was locked in a room. At the moment, the woman is not a suspect," said Lyons.

“When I woke up, I heard a strange noise and called my son, but he didn’t come. I immediately called the police,” the surviving woman said.

Later, the sheriff stated that his detectives would work with the Texas Rangers to solve this crime and find the murderer.

"First, we need to conduct an autopsy and determine whether it was suicide or not. After that, we can start an investigation," Byron Lyons said.

All the dead were sent to a medical examiner.
