Back to 1985: Police are still investigating missing a child in Pennsylvania
It was an ordinary day for everyone except Mahan's family from Pennsylvania. Cherrie was a cute and fun 8 year old girl. She studied at a local school and often played with friends.

"On Feb.22, the girl's parents saw their daughter for the last time. Cherrie went to school by bus. After the last lesson, the girl and her friends got on the school bus," Max DeLuca told State Police Trooper told NBC News. Parents of other children said that they had seen the girl getting on the bus with her three friends. But Cherrie did not come home and the police still have no answers.

"The girl's parents continued to wait for her, but later they called the police and told about the incident. The arriving officers accepted the statement and began an investigation. Cherrie's parents also said that they called all friends and neighbors, but no one knew where the girl was," said DeLuca.

A woman, who met her children from school said that she saw a big blue van that followed the school bus. The kids confirmed it too. They said that the skier and the mountains were painted on a blue van. Law enforcement authorities suspect that this 'mysterious' van may be involved in the disappearance of the girl. Later, the Pennsylvania police said that every van of blue and other colors was checked, the drivers were interrogated, but this did not help the investigation.

“This is not a criminal area. Accidents rarely happen here, but we still haven't found any evidence. Even after 35 years, we still have a lot of questions,” DeLuca added.

“I still communicate with Cherrie's parents, but they are waiting for answers and results. Unfortunately, I cannot say anything to them, as we have no evidence. Even if we find this blue van with the pictured skier, we will not find proof of the girl’s disappearance, "the investigator said.

"After 35 years, we continue to remember our daughter every day. I know that there is someone who knows all the details and causes of Cherrie’s disappearance. I don’t believe that no one saw who kidnapped our daughter or where she went ... Why nobody can tell us what happened on that day?" Cherrie's mom said.

"I wake up and hope to hear her voice every day. I would gave everything that I have to see her again," the woman added.

Pennsylvania police are not going to stop the investigation, because officers want to establish the cause of the girl’s disappearance and her current location. This incident caught the attention of all Americans.
