In an incident, which reportedly took place at about 4:45 p.m., a woman crashed her car into the Harbor Division LAPD station in San Pedro, authorities said. The woman, a baby in the car with her, directed the vehicle past the barriers and smashed into the station’s lobby. The police suspect the woman might have subjected herself to the influence before. The sedan left the glass doors of the lobby flying around in pieces, with the car breaking to a halt eventually inside the building. At the time of the accident, the station was closed and there were no people in the lobby.
The police released a surveillance video, which recorded the incident. After one of the officers approached the car and spoke to the woman, she flashed the door open, leaving him no time to step aside, so that he was dragged by the door for some time. The police have taken the woman into custody, after she underwent a medical examination at the hospital. Both the woman and her baby were left with only insignificant injuries. The police have not yet disclosed the name of the woman, nor the charges she might face soon. It is also not established whether her crash into the police station was intended.
