The album was produced by the production team Matiz/AC16, which, in addition to Alex Christensen, consisted of Hayo Panarinfo, Helmut Hoinkis and Ingo Hauss. The eponymous piece is a techno version of the soundtrack for the feature film Das Boot by composer Klaus Doldinger. The album was one of the first commercially successful techno albums, selling over 500,000 units.
