Your*Nafs* and* Shirk*

Recognizing and overcoming the pitfalls of one's own Nafs (self/ego) is crucial in avoiding the grave sin of Shirk (polytheism). The Nafs, driven by desires and whims, can lead individuals astray, causing them to attribute power or worship to entities other than Allah. The Quran warns, "And do not follow your Nafs, for it will lead you astray from the path of Allah" (Quran 38:26). By acknowledging and controlling the Nafs, believers can safeguard themselves against Shirk, maintaining a pure and unwavering devotion to Allah alone.
