Lake Atta abad Hunza Pakistan
Frozen Attabad Lake Hunza
The Attabad Lake in the Hunza Valley of Pakistan formed as a result of a landslide in 2010. The landslide blocked the flow of the Hunza River, causing water to back up and form the lake. The lake submerged several villages and caused the displacement of thousands of people.
In the winter, when the lake freezes over, locals and tourists can be seen walking and playing on the frozen surface. However, it is not recommended to do so as the lake is fed by glacial melt, and the ice can be unpredictable and unsafe. The temperature also drops significantly below freezing point, which make it dangerous for people.
The government of Pakistan has taken steps to address the issues caused by the lake, including building an artificial spillway to allow water to flow through and constructing a dam to control the level of the lake. They are also resettling displaced people and rebuilding the submerged villages.
The lake also change the scenerio of the region, Many tourism industry is getting benifit of it as well as it have negative impact on the agricuture of the region as well.
