Traces of Gandhara civilization were found in Rajanpur
In Rajanpur, the Department of Archeology found traces of the Gandhara civilization dating back to the 2nd century AD during excavations. The Archeology Department found traces of the Gandhara civilization during excavations at the site of Dilu Rai Thir in Rajanpur. According to the deputy director of the Punjab Archeology Department Muhammad Hasan, the things we have found show that this city is about 2,000 years old. The city was settled here in the first or second century and remained here until the eighth century. The Kushan, Sassanid and Gupta nations of the Buddhist era settled here. Valuable statues, coins, pottery, and seals have also been recovered during excavations. The deputy director says that here we have found Sassanian objects, Gupta period objects, and a couple of statues which are of very great variety. Copper coins are found. Investigations are also underway as to why this place is known as Dilu Rai Thir in Jampur. Excavation is going on using scientific methods which will help in further research. Furnaces were also found during the excavations, with which these nations used to make blazes and seas.
